Youth Program Registration is Live: Click Here (please read below program requirements)
Greetings Parents and Guardians,
The Youth Leadership is thrilled to announce its return to camp ASEP for the summer of 2026! You can expect another summer filled with leadership bonding trips and extensive opportunities for your youth leader to step into a role model position for younger campers and aid ASEP staff in running camp activities.
Please note that final site confirmation for ASEP summer camp and the Youth Leadership program from SFUSD is still pending. You are encouraged to apply before a site has been determined, and are welcome to withdraw from the program if the designated site does not fit your camp needs.
The Youth Leadership program will remain a no cost opportunity for students to have fun with their peers while building classroom management skills, develop confidence leading others, practice empathy, and obtain practical skills in a semi-formal work environment. As such, our team is looking for applicants who are invested in the opportunities provided by the program who are willing to embrace the responsibilities placed upon them.
In order to help us determine admission, we ask that all applicants submit the following materials and meet the following criteria:
1). Fill out the Registration Form —>Click Here
2). A one page, 12 pt. Times New Roman, double-spaced essay answering one of the following prompts:
i). Highlight two qualities of yours which have helped you work with others in the past and describe how they helped.
What did you learn from this experience and how would you apply these as a member of the Youth Leadership Team?
ii). Think of a leader either in your life or that you look up to. What are 3 qualities of this leader that you admire? In
what ways can you model some of these qualities and how might this help those around you?"
iii). Describe a time where you overcame a challenge in your life. How did you work through this and how has this
informed the way you approach challenges moving forward?
3). Complete an interview with a member of the leadership team. Upon submission of the essay, the Youth Leadership team will reach out individually to schedule an interview either in person or virtually.
4). Commit to at least three of the first six weeks of camp
5). Attend the Youth Leadership orientation on the first day of camp.
Essays should be submitted to [email protected] by Thursday, April 30th.
Space in the program is limited this year and applicants are not guaranteed a spot in the program upon completion of the registration form. We encourage all interested students to take all of the available time to be thoughtful and intentional when working on their writing supplements, and use the opportunity to put that self-reflection on the page.
If you have any questions regarding any of the above information feel free to reach out to us at [email protected]. Thank you and we look forward to seeing you this summer!
