Our Philosophy
ASEP's Philosophy is based on diversity and equality. This is best illustrated through ASEP's unique program that treats all students and families equally, regardless of their economic backgrounds. Where some schools house two or more programs ( tuition and free) that unintentionally separate students across class lines, ASEP directly addresses this issue by intentionally bringing together disparate communities under one single program, thus allowing all students and families to benefit from high-quality services as a unified community.
Social and Educational Equity & Community Involvement
ASEP follows a fairly structured daily schedule, yet we have intentionally planned a healthy amount of “choice” into our program as well. ASEP believes choice is an important aspect of healthy child development. Students collectively decide on group themes, enjoy unstructured free play and choose their own arts enrichment classes. Parents, families and the community even get to choose, by providing input for our program and helping to develop and improve ASEP every single year!
Specialized Programming and Partnerships
ASEP was started by a parent, so soliciting feedback and working directly with the community has always been a central aspect of shaping the program. As a result, ASEP now offers specialized programs that represent the interests and needs of our diverse communities. Usually these specialized programs are accomplished through unique partnerships with various professionals and other community based organizations that help create sustainability between programs!
