ASEP’s school-year registration opens in April and requires families to submit an annual application for each student, including returning students. The application covers the full academic year and allows families to indicate interest in Comprehensive ASEP, Language Programs, and/or Specialty Clubs.
Families have a two-week window to be included in the first review batch. Applications submitted afterward are processed as space allows. Submission does not guarantee placement; families must receive an official acceptance letter for their child to attend ASEP.
After acceptance letters are issued, tuition contracts are sent and families may enroll in autopay. Please watch for ASEP communication during this period (sent only to accepted families).
Specialty Club registration reopens in the fall for the upcoming spring semester. Clubs are semester-based and filled by lottery to support equitable access.
Summer Camp registration opens in February–March. Applications submitted within the first two weeks receive priority consideration; later submissions depend on remaining availability.
As part of the school-year application, families will:
- Have the opportunity to complete a scholarship form (if applicable)
- Review and sign required ASEP and SFUSD forms, including Priority Enrollment, Progressive Response to Challenging Behavior, ADA and FERPA acknowledgements, student data and media consent forms, release of information, and opt-out forms related to ELO-P priority students.
Important Note:
ASEP prioritizes enrollment for families who qualify under the SFUSD ELOP (Expanded Learning Opportunities Program). ELOP priority generally applies to students who meet income eligibility, are foster or unhoused youth, English learners, or students identified by the school district for additional academic support.
NEW TO ASEP: If your child is new to ASEP for the 25-26 school year (did not complete a 25-26 ASEP Application) you will be required to complete an ASEP 25-26 Application. The ASEP 25-26 Application contains forms/information such as Priority Enrollment, Progressive Response to Challenging behavior, ADA, FERPA, student data, Media Consent Form, Release of Information, Opt out form for ELO-P priority students, which you'll need to sign off on before having your child enrolled in summer program that you must review and sign.
